1. Nature of the Service
This service is a privately operated reference. It is not Henrico County, a Virginia agency, a court, library, archive, or record custodian. Links, descriptions, and search tools are provided for general information and do not create an official record.
2. Permitted Use
Use the service only for lawful personal research, genealogy, civic inquiry, property history, or record-correction work. Do not stalk, harass, threaten, impersonate, scrape, disrupt, evade access controls, or use information in a way that violates a law, court order, custodian restriction, or another person's privacy.
3. Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
Short Pump Residents Directory is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information here may not be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other FCRA-regulated purpose.
4. Third-Party Services
Outside links and search providers are independent services. Their results, availability, charges, terms, privacy practices, and access controls are outside our control. Review their current rules before submitting information or relying on a result.
5. No Promise of Accuracy
Record descriptions, links, access conditions, and results can change. An online county index, map, directory scan, or court locator can contain omissions or errors. Verify material facts with the office or repository that holds the original record.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent permitted by law, use of the service is at your own risk. We are not responsible for losses, claims, damages, unavailable tools, incorrect third-party information, or decisions made from information obtained through the service.
7. Your Responsibility
You agree to defend and hold the service and its operators harmless from claims arising from your unlawful use, misuse of a third-party result, violation of these terms, or infringement of another person's rights.
8. Intellectual Property
The service's original text, layout, and branding are protected by applicable law. Government records, public-domain works, library materials, and third-party content may carry their own restrictions. Do not reproduce protected material beyond rights granted by its owner or law.
9. Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms to reflect changes in the service, record access, or legal requirements. The terms posted when you use the service apply. Material changes may be posted without individual notice.
10. Ending Access
We may suspend or end access for conduct that appears unlawful, abusive, technically harmful, or inconsistent with these terms. This does not limit a government custodian's own authority to restrict a record or system.
11. Virginia Law
Virginia law governs these terms, subject to applicable federal law. Public-record access remains governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code §§2.2-3700 through 2.2-3715, and record-specific confidentiality statutes such as Va. Code §32.1-271 for vital records. The Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act appears at Va. Code §59.1-575 and following, subject to its scope and exemptions.
12. Severability
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the fullest extent allowed. A waiver of one provision is not a waiver of a later breach or another provision.
13. Questions
Questions about these terms may be sent through the contact route. Questions about a deed, parcel, court filing, voter record, vital certificate, or historical scan must go to the named Henrico County, Virginia, court, library, or state custodian.
