Find Short Pump ZIP Codes

Use the Short Pump ZIP code directory to narrow an address before checking county records. The community name, postal city, precinct, and parcel geography can point in different directions, especially near western Henrico edges. Start with the street address you have, preserve its spelling, and let the postal result guide the next search. Then compare that delivery label with the county parcel and election tools. That sequence helps when a familiar Short Pump place turns up under a different postal label and prevents a ZIP result from being mistaken for a city boundary or a resident list.

Short Pump ZIP Coverage

Short Pump ZIPs are postal tools, not a municipal directory. Short Pump is a census-designated place in Henrico County, and several postal labels appear in official county records for its area. The county polling-place list is useful evidence of the overlap: it places Short Pump-area precincts in the Three Chopt magisterial district while showing several different ZIPs. Use the table as a search map, then normalize a specific address with USPS and confirm its parcel with Henrico.

One familiar place can therefore appear under Short Pump, Glen Allen, Henrico, or another postal wording. Keep the full address and county in the search notes. The ZIP by itself is too broad to establish a community identity.

Short Pump ZIP Postal Labels

Short Pump is a CDP, not an incorporated city or a USPS delivery boundary. Census figures describe the CDP, while Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas are statistical approximations and USPS ZIP codes are delivery constructs. Neither one matches Henrico election districts or every community edge. A Short Pump ZIP code directory should therefore be read as a way to organize address research, not as a count of residents or a list of everyone in a neighborhood.

Henrico's postal history adds context. The county says USPS officially recognized “Henrico, VA” as a mailing address in 2008. That helps explain why a record can carry a postal name that differs from the community name. The safest practice is to retain the community label supplied with the question, the USPS city and ZIP returned for delivery, and the Henrico jurisdiction found through the county tools.

Note: A postal label, precinct address, subdivision name, and CDP label describe different geography and should not be merged.

Short Pump ZIP USPS Fields

The USPS ZIP Lookup is the only clearly ZIP-directed public tool documented for this research. It standardizes an address or returns city names associated with a ZIP. It does not verify that a named person or organization is at an address, and it does not draw a legal or local-government boundary. Use the result to prepare a county search, not to make a claim about who lives at a location.

The image below comes from the USPS explanation of ZIP and ZIP+4 addressing.

USPS explains that the extra four digits in ZIP+4 identify a delivery segment, which improves routing but does not identify a household.

Find Residents Within a Short Pump ZIP

A postal ZIP can narrow the place, but it cannot replace the address and county. Henrico Property Search does not show a ZIP field in its visible primary form, and the Virginia voter route uses an address to determine an individual's polling assignment rather than offering a public ZIP roster. The practical workflow starts with postal normalization and then moves to the address-keyed county systems.

  1. Use USPS Find by Address and retain the standardized street spelling, postal city, ZIP, and ZIP+4 if it is returned.
  2. Enter the normalized street number, prefix, street name, and unit in Henrico Property Search, then save the GPIN or PID shown for the parcel.
  3. Check the same address in the Henrico GIS Viewer for parcel, subdivision, lot, and appraisal-area context. The map is reference-only, not a survey.
  4. For a polling-place question, use the Virginia Citizen Portal with the individual address and compare the result with Henrico's official precinct table.
  5. Once the postal area is narrowed to a street, use the Short Pump street directory for the full address-based record path.

A GIS export is geographic data, not a resident list. Likewise, an assessment or mailing entry can answer a parcel question without establishing current occupancy.

Check a Short Pump ZIP Parcel

Henrico Property Search is a useful bridge from a delivery address to a county parcel. Its visible form accepts GPIN, PID, street number, prefix, street name, unit, use code, description, and sort controls. If an address does not return a result, remove the unit, test a directional prefix, or try the parcel ID from a tax or permit record. The main form did not visibly display an owner-name field, so the available information supports address and parcel searching rather than a promise of name searching.

The real-estate database can include ownership, assessed value, physical characteristics, and sales data, but Henrico calls the online data a reference copy that may contain errors. A site address can differ from a tax mailing address. Record the retrieval date and compare an important ownership question with the recorded instrument held by the Circuit Court Clerk.

The Henrico Property Search form shows the address and parcel controls used after ZIP normalization.

Those county fields refine a postal result into a parcel search without treating the ZIP as a resident roster.

Short Pump ZIP Precinct Clues

Henrico's official polling-location table shows the local mismatch clearly. The Short Pump precinct at 4701 Pouncey Tract Road is listed with 23059. Stoney Run at 3425 Pump Road and Pocahontas at 12000 Three Chopt Road use 23233. Innsbrook at 4611 Sadler Road uses 23060. Rivers Edge, Sadler, and Shady Grove add more 23059 examples. All of these are in the Three Chopt magisterial district.

That table is a geographic clue, not a way to build a people list. The Virginia Citizen Portal can help a person check registration status, polling place, districts, absentee status, and voting history through its own workflow. Individual VERIS records are not a general Virginia FOIA roster, and voter-list requests follow restricted statutory routes. A precinct entry never proves that a person lives at a particular address today.

Short Pump ZIPs and City Limits

There are no Short Pump city limits to match against a ZIP boundary because Short Pump is not incorporated. The relevant comparison is between a CDP/community label, USPS delivery routing, Henrico parcel jurisdiction, and election geography. County records can legitimately show Glen Allen, Henrico, Richmond, or Short Pump wording near the same area. USPS handles delivery standardization, not civic classification.

ZIP code
A USPS routing code used to sort and deliver mail. It does not define a county, CDP, or precinct.
ZIP+4
A ZIP code plus a four-digit delivery segment that refines routing for an address.
PO-box ZIP
A ZIP assigned to a post-office-box delivery arrangement; it should not be assumed to describe nearby street addresses.
Unique ZIP
A ZIP used for one organization or delivery arrangement; it is not a general geographic boundary.
Carrier route
A mail-delivery route within postal operations, not a resident or property boundary.

Short Pump ZIP CDP Context

Census material gives useful scale without resolving a delivery address. Census QuickFacts reports 30,626 people in the Short Pump CDP in 2020, compared with 24,729 in 2010, and the Census search describes roughly 9 square miles of land area. Those figures apply to the CDP, not to a postal delivery area. They should not be used to estimate a household count within any ZIP or to decide whether a particular parcel belongs to Short Pump.

Use Census ZCTA material for statistical context only. For an individual record question, the address must still be checked through USPS, the Henrico parcel tools, and the appropriate county custodian. This keeps a broad population statistic from being mistaken for address-level evidence.

Keep Three Short Pump ZIP Labels

For a difficult edge address, preserve three labels together: the community name provided by the researcher, the USPS city and ZIP returned for delivery, and the Henrico jurisdiction or precinct found through the county. This method makes a record search repeatable without declaring one label to be the only correct name. It also avoids overwriting a historical spelling that may be important in a deed, directory, or map.

Test the same address separately in USPS, Property Search, GIS, the Registrar's polling lookup, and Build Henrico when the question concerns a permit. Build Henrico has a split: records entered before August 30, 2021 remain in the Legacy system. A failed modern search is a routing signal, not proof that no record exists. No official Short Pump ZIP-boundary map or local ZIP realignment history was located in the research, so precise boundary claims should be avoided.

Note: Keep the postal result beside the original source spelling so later searches can test both forms without conflating them.
